Jimmy Durante (some younger readers may need to look him up) used to say "Everybody's gotta get into the act!" and when it comes to vinyl, he was correct! It's sold at Whole Foods (which because of some of the customers I encounter there I like to call "A-Whole Foods") at Urban Outfitters (along with Crosley "groove chewers"), Target and other unlikely vinyl venues.

For the second time in two years I was invited to participate in North Carolina retailer Audio Advice's "Music Matters" customer appreciation event. No doubt some of you have attended a similar type happening at your local audio retailer—if you're fortunate enough to have one in your area.

No doubt it was digitally sourced and resolution unknown, but sometimes tunes trump source format. The 2 LP American Hustle-Original Motion Picture Soundtrack album from Madison Gate Records and Legacy Recordings (the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment) includes six songs not included on the CD version (there's a switch).

Harry Pearson The Absolute Sound's founder and the originator of the term "high end audio" and arguably the industry itself, died November 4th, 2014 at his home in Sea Cliff, NY. He was 77. The cause of death has yet to be determined but most likely he suffered either a stroke or a heart attack. Pearson was in frail health following a series of heart problems and a broken hip suffered after a fall.

The annual Manila HiFi Show takes place at the Dusit Thani Hotel this November 8th and 9th. It's difficult to believe a full year has passed since analogplanet editor Michael Fremer attended the show but it has. Hopefully this year The Philippines will be spared a typhoon!

This November 11th Concord Music Group will release a four 180g LP box set The Complete Village Vanguard Recordings 1961”. As all fans of Waltz For Debby and Sunday at The Village Vanguard well know, the two LP’s worth of material were culled from afternoon and evening performances on Sunday June 25th 1961 and represented a heavily edited version of what transpired that eventful day—days before 25 year old bassist Scott LaFaro died in a car accident.
