So many companies, so little time. The AP team didn’t get to spend as much time with everybody at High End Munich 2024 as we would have liked to, so we’ve been doing some post-show follow-ups to cover as many analog bases as we can. The company we’re highlighting today is Benny Audio, founded in 2017 and based in Gliwice, Poland. Their new Odyssey turntable, which was a prototype in 2023, was on display at the show, and is now officially in production. Read on to learn all about the Odyssey’s features and specs. . .

We’ve always loved the level of craftsmanship that goes into the making of all the various turntables and tonearms that emerge from the mind and hands of Helmut Brinkmann and how well they consistently perform on the bench and in listening tests, but we’ve never given proper due to the German company’s best-selling Taurus turntable — until right now, that is. Of course you can put a Grado cartridge on your Rega turntable without Hagerman Audio Labs' permission or help, but because of where Rega positions the motors on its turntables, doing that comes at a cost: hum.

It was a fine time to be in the Washington, D.C. metro area for the most recent Capital Audiofest (CAF) that was held November 10-12, 2023, at the Twinbrook Hilton in Rockville, Maryland. A growing show, CAF has expanded to encompass a reported 114 exhibit rooms across more than four floors in addition to conference rooms throughout the hotel.
