The long awaited triple LP vinyl issue of Led Zeppelin's Celebration Day scheduled for release in December in time for Christmas gift-giving but a no-show will finally be issued January 29th according to our sources.
We recently reported the curious case of Omnivore's reissue of Bert Jansch's Heartbreak LP. The 1981 recording sounded "mono" on the LP but stereo on the MP3 download. We contacted the label and today got this reply:
The Swedish Band The Shout Out Louds released a limited edition of 10 copies of a promo single in a kit that requires the receiver to use a supplied latex mold to produce a record made of ice that actually plays
With all of the reissues coming from questionable sources or proudly proclaiming their "digital-ness" ala The Beatles Box, we're fortunate to have labels like Analogue Productions, Mobile Fidelity, ORG, IMPEX, Rhino and the others cutting lacquers from analog tapes.
Rhino recently reissued Love's essential Forever Changes album in conjunction with last November 23rd's "Record Store Day." The album was cut by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering and pressed at RTI.
I was invited to speak at last week's Los Angeles and Orange County Audiophile Society Annual Awards Banquet. I spoke there two years ago and did some audio stand up comedy so this time i figured I'd do something else: sing.
Reader Tony Crocker emailed me with the URL for his YouTube record cleaning video. Crocker bases it in part on the one written for The Tracking Angle by Michael Wayne some years ago that you can access on this site.
My apologies to Gavin Lurrsen, who did respond immediately to my email via email. Unfortunately his email got trapped in the overaggressive corporate spam filter.

Power is back, heat and hot water are back, Internet it back. Life returns to normal. I actually got to listen to music on my system last night for the first time in more than a week.
(Photo by Randy Wells) I've been on the road just about the entire month of October. First at Rocky Mountain Audio Festival and this past weekend I M.C.'d at Chad Kassem's 15th Annual Blues at The Crossroads Blues Festival held at his Blue Heaven Studios, a converted church. It was a blast and of course I again got to tour the pressing plant.
