Audio Research Ref Phono 10 Makes CES Debut

Billed as a state of the art phono preamp, ARC's new Ref Phono 10 is a two box true dual mono hybrid design featuring a JFET front end coupled to a 4 6H30 tube output. Gain and loading is touch screen configurable. The Ref Phono 10 is fully balanced, has two sets of inputs and includes Decca and Columbia curves for pre RIAA (mid-1950s) mono records. Beware charlatans telling you Columbia used their own curve in the to 70s and 80s or that there is such a thing as the Decca FFSS curve for stereo era Decca LPs. This has been a recorded message.

Heard it the year before last at the Newport show in Randy Coolie's room. He was using all the latest ARC REF gear with the Vandersteen speakers. The cartridge was the Lyra Atlas. The sound was spectacular in its three dimensionality ... and so tonally correct. Made me want to exit immediately and rob a bank.
