Here's the poop directly from Rega:
"The Planar 8 was inspired by the ultimate Rega turntable, the 'Naiad'. We decided early on that instead of an evolution of the previous RP8, the new Planar 8 was to be developed and engineered to encapsulate the essence of 'Naiad' at an affordable price. Our aim was to deliver a level of performance far beyond what has been achieved at this price point before.

Neil Young describes Homegrown as "The One That Got Away". Recorded in 1974 and '75, the album should have been released a few years after Harvest, but the sad side of a love affair was too much for Young to deal with after recording it, so he "...kept it to myself, hidden away in the vault, on the shelf, in the back of my mind….but I should have shared it. It’s actually beautiful. That’s why I made it in the first place. Sometimes life hurts. You know what I mean. This is the one that got away."

For an artist who passed away at a relatively young age (51) Bill Evans left a rich and varied recorded legacy—more music on disc than even the most dedicated Evans fan could possibly consume, yet more rare and often precious gems continue to be discovered and released, particularly by Resonance Records, whose Co-President Zev Feldman is a huge Evans fan.

Roger Modjeski passed away December 11th 2019 at age 68 after a year long battle with cancer. He was a brilliant audio engineer who, after working at IBM and teaching at Stanford, joined Harold Beveridge in Santa Barbara, CA where he worked on that designer's electrostatic loudspeakers before becoming a reluctant manufacturer whose no-nonsense products have stood the test of time. He favored teaching and mentoring to manufacturing but managed to do both very well.

A series of tangential trackers followed. The new T700, manufactured in Germany, features a built-in MC phono preamplifier and comes standard with an Ortofon Quintet Bronze moving coil cartridge.

Has it really been 45 years since Rhino Records put out their very first release in 1978? (Bonus points to those of you who remember “Rocky,” the original Elvis-ified Rhino company logo from back in the day.) In celebration of Rhino’s 45th anniversary this year, the vaunted archival label is launching what they’re calling Rhino Reds, a new series of limited-edition reissues pressed on custom “Rhino Red” vinyl. Read on to see which 12 LPs from Rhino’s deep catalog will be getting the Red carpet treatment over the next few months. . .
