I am not a active vinyl collector but this table with the boxset would be an excellent investment to purchase and put away for the grandchildren.
I imagine in another 25-35 years this current day investment would pay big dividends.
The $499 turntable with reproduced Shepard Fairey's Harrison portrait on the chassis, is a Pro-Ject Essential III featuring a pre-installed Ortofon OM10 cartridge, diamond-cut aluminum pulley, MDF chassis, an acrylic platter (so you can better view the Abbey Road mixing board in the artwork located below the platter) and a completely redesigned built-in motor controller.

Is the bearing a selling point for anyone? I see a lot of discussion out there about platter and tone arm material, rubber mats, feet, motors, but nothing really about the bearing. My Pro-Ject 1Xpression Carbon Classic has a "main platter bearing made from stainless steel runs in bronze bushing with Teflon bottom". I am somewhat surprised that I never have to clean or lubricate it.
Is this what the so-called vinyl resurgence is coming down to???
...was to individually number each table so we could all pay dear premiums for the low-numbered editions.

Pro-Ject should concentrate on fixing all the issues with the Xtension 10 and their other products before making these silly novelty turntables. I have a list of about 10 things wrong with mine that the US rep pretty much told me it wasn't their problem. So as you can imagine, I'm looking to a competent manufacturer like Clearaudio for my next rig.
Don't get me wrong--this table sounds great, and I liked it better than the sterile VPI I compared it to. Yet the design quirks and manufacturing flaws just shouldn't happen at this price level. I really want to try their Tube Box DS2 phono stage but given my shoddy treatment a couple of years ago over this TT, I have serious reservations in owning another of their products.
No need for a budget turntable
