Denon DP-3000NE Turntable
After our recent in-depth review of Denon’s DL-103o moving coil cartridge, I thought I’d look into one of their other core, analog-centric product categories — turntables, of course! — to see what else the stalwart company currently offers, and the flagship DP-3000NE table caught my eye.
The direct-drive Denon DP-3000NE table boasts a dark ebony finish, aluminum diecast platter (305mm), steel bearing, aluminum headshell, and an S-shaped tonearm featuring cartridge-weight adjustment, anti-skating adjustment (0-3g), and arm-height adjustment (0-9mm). This arm also allows for the use of “a wide variety” of MM or MC cartridges — with the added note of its “suitable” cartridge weight being 4-16g without the subweight, or 14-26g with subweight. Note, however, that a cart is not included with the table.
Other specs for the DP-3000NE include a 16-pole 12-coil brushless motor, start/stop control, playback speeds of 33⅓, 45, and 78rpm, PWM Vector control, wow & flutter of less than 0.06% (JIS), speed tolerance of less than ±0.3%, S/N ratio of over 70dB, arm length of 244mm, overhang of 14mm, offset angle of 20.5º, tracking error angle of 2.5º (max), power supply as 100-240V AC (50/60Hz), power consumption as less than 4W, and standby power consumption as less than 0.3W.
The dimensions of the DP-3000NE are 500 x 185 x 394mm (w/h/d), and its weight is 40lb (18.5kg), including the dust cover.
Also included with the DP-3000NE table are adjustable insulator feet, platter mat, dust cover, power cable, RCA cable and ground cable, overhang gauge, screw set for cartridge mount (10, 13, 18mm), two 1mm cartridge spacers, two plastic washers, screwdriver, counterweight, sub-counterweight, and a Denon EP adapter/weight.
Finally, the SRP for the Denon DP-3000NE turntable is $2,499.
So, should we look into reviewing this model, or one of Denon’s less-expensive table offerings, like, say, their DP-450USB belt-drive table ($699)? Chime in with your own thoughts/preferences below, in the Comments section.

please review this one, the DP-3000ne. The price point seems quite attractive, given the features.
Review! The 3000ne that is. I'm pretty burnt out on fiddly rigs that need too much, er, fiddling. A solid, well priced DD turntable / arm combo with great pedigree and interchangeable head shell is a very attractive proposition. If it sounds great.
This sounds like a welcome addition to the analog world.
A review of both would be best, but the Denon DP-3000NE would be a must review
I am curious how either table compares with the direct drive tables Denon produced during the 1980s (e.g. DP-47). These featured tonearms with tracking force produced magnetically by electronic servos.
For all of the reasons above... very intriguing price point as well. THIS.
Thanks.
I built my first turntable, a Connoisseur BD1 + SME 3009 in 1973. By the early 80s I was itching to upgrade. My local HiFi store, Hampshire Audio, held a demo at a Southampton hotel ballroom of a Denon DD vs a Linn Sondek. The difference in sound quality was easy to hear. Being a recent student I couldn't afford the Linn, after a demo I bought a Dual belt drive, that I still have. I'm sure DD has improved over the years but please do due diligance for any expensive purchase. Cheers!
Perhaps a review might give us some solid info on performance and value that the advertisement post does not.
It is sad that the question is even asked of us, Reviews should be the priority here.
I certainly don't think Mike is asking whether he should do reviews, but if we would like to see him review this specific piece of kit.
Like you, I suspect, I am a bit mixed on the "reposting" here of marketing information, but in the end I do appreciate the newsfeed of interesting new products, especially ones that seem to have the potential of offering something unique within certain price ranges, which this Denon appears to do.
Suggestion Mike: a weekly or monthly posting here of any new and interesting products and services appropriate to the analog world with links to more info. I have neither the time nor interest in scouring the interwebs for what's new, but I assume you are on just about everyone's list and could pass along the good stuff? This site and one or two others are the only ways I find out about new offerings on the market.
For your response Mike. I appreciate the additional perspective on how you handle these things. Good to know!
On another note, though I am well beyond the entry level stuff (though nowhere near the stratosphere of $30K turntables, $20K DACS, etc.) I really appreciate your coverage of the ultra-entry level. 1) it helps my back stock of possible recommendations to the many who ask me for some guidance (and are stretching to purchase a $400 turntable never mind a $4K sample) and 2) helps provide some good material for those just starting to dip their toes in the HiFi waters. To be able to suggest checking out AP knowing they can find at least a few things to which they can relate is a good thing in several ways.
Keep up the good work. I enjoy checking out the site several times a week.
I'd love to see a review of the Denon DP-3000NE 'table and would hope you might look to see how it plays with a couple of different cartridges. Maybe a classic like the Denon 103 and a newer, and more expensive, cart such as a higher end Ortofon MC. Or two or three, even. Looking forward!
And thanks.

I bought several months ago. Wonderful table- direct drive, instant start and stop, great tonearm and beautiful ebony finish. I think the plinth is anodized aluminum to look like wood. Nevertheless, it's a very handsome table. I would have bought it at twice the price! Keep in mind if you look at the Amazon reviews, most of those are about the Denon 300F, not this table. The 3000NE has gotten excellent reviews in magazines.
