I Messed Up! I was on "For What It's Worth" Last Night...Not Next Week (online link to show in comments)

Oh well. My segment on Gary Dell'Abbate's and Jon Hein's VH-1 Classic TV show "For What It's Worth" aired last night. I thought it was next Thursday evening.

The good news is that it will air continually on the channel all this week. So check your local cable TV guide. Remember, VH1 Classic is not VH1. It's a different channel

I hope you watch it and let me know what you think....

Just watched last night's episode, ya did good Michael.  That demo material wasn't my cuppa-T but those two seemed to get it.

The demo material for on-air was dictated by what they could get cleared without paying hefty fees. Off camera we played a lot of stuff. I wish they could have used the Clash or "Live and Let Die" stuff they heard and shot. Both are big McCartney fans and the OP of the soundtrack to "Live and Let Die" is amazing sounding....heavily orchestrated (etc.) and they heard a lot of stuff on that McCartney tune they never heard before....that was the one that really blew their minds but good luck getting permission to play that without paying hefty fees...but the point was made on camera and that's what counts...though I can tell you that MSB DAC is unbelievably good. Best digital I've ever heard....

Ah that stinks!  Would've been cool to see their biggest reaction, regardless of the song.

How big is the room Mike?  It was hard to tell from the shot.  Did you custom build those record shelves?  I like the way you can display a few on the end caps.

The room is appx. 15'x21'x8 with the hall extending further on one side. It's not a large room but the speakers work really well and the room sounds great. An acoustician measured it and said that thanks to the LPs, the decay time is ideal. 

The record shelves are mostly Per Madsen. He's retired but now they are being manufactured by TwoCan HiFi. You can find the story on this site.

Thought the segment was great and seeing your setups(or at least a couple) in this light was most tasty. I could tell the sound difference in the two formats of that Thompson Twins song through my wifes 22" tv with garbage speakers. Great stuff! BRAVO! Mr. Fremer

That's a Meridian Digital Music Server. Used to be called Sooloos. They changed it because the original name was too cool and catchy (just being sarcastic)....

Just curious, what format was the digital version? I know you said CD but you were playing off of the server. What was the resolution?

You did a great job of representing your vinyl brethren. too bad they didnt show more of you talking and less of them listening to music. one quick question, have you ever posted photos of your listening room? I'd love to see those pics, might be a good idea for a future feature!

Cool! I don't have TV, so I would have missed the clip had it not been posted here. You did good. Although sometime you should explain to Gary that not ALL records sound good... I mean, you made him go and buy a Queen album from Amazon after your segment... probably a digitally cut reissue.... huge difference between an original analog cut. You know this, but the average person does not.

You represented your vinyl brothers with wonderful skill. It's unfortunate that they didn't include more of snow rider you conversing and less of them enjoying music.
