TT Weights Commences Kickstarter Project For Technics SL-1200 Periphery Record Clamp

TT Weights' Larry Denham recently announced a Kickstarter project to fund the tooling necessary to manufacture a peripheral ring/record clamp for the ubiquitous (but currently no longer manufactured) Technics SL1200 turntable.

The 'table's fan club is legion, so this project should prove very successful but one can't blame Mr. Denham for trying to get it pre-funded. Contributors at various levels will receive attractive rewards. Go to the campaign website for more details.

Denham says the new ring will fit Will fit the following Technics Turntables: SL1210 M5G, SL1200 MK2, MK3, MK3D, MK5 & M5G. It will also fit the Audio Technica Series AT-LP1240 (USB)i and Pioneer's PLX-1000.

As for the value of such an outer ring, that cannot be denied. If it's good enough for the $150,000+ Onedof 'table and for VPI and, indeed Mr. Denham's own 'tables, it should be equally efficacious on the 1200. I had one manufactured for my Simon Yorke turntable and I recommend one if you're willing to put up with a bit of hassle.
