"AnalogPlanet editor Michael Fremer does not waste time going room-to-room making picayune sonic assessments. These are hotel rooms, after all, that often produce mediocre sound, though you can get a rough idea of how much of the gear performs. If there's good sound, which there sometimes is, it does mean something, but if there's bad sound it means nothing—unless the host says "We're getting great sound"!
Well put! I could not have done better. This is my philosophy about shows. I even repeat it to some exhibitors (whom I know a little better than others) who sometimes express frustration in their room's sound. I try to show some love so to speak, letting them know I get it at least. I find that they really appreciate it at the end of the visit, they always tell me genuinely.
What an amazing show Axpona has become! I wish LAAS could be like that or Munich. (Munich is a tall order though. We should have shows like that)!
Many new affordable HiFi products shown (thank you Michael). Not as much in this second video, but equal time is only fair!
Of course, on the backside, your coverage of this show took on all the characteristics of a pry bar on one's wallet! I'm teasing. I love seeing more high-value reasonably priced pedigree gear. (That ultrasonic RCM from Kirmuss Audio really took top prize, but there were many other items that were very nice as well).
More to be seen at Munich and we get to see what more is up Heinz's sleeve at Pro-ject. You know he is always coming up with something.
