Norman Pickering's Great-Niece Writes

Hello Mr. Fremer.

I just finished reading an article you wrote about Norman Pickering - Guess What Company Norman Pickering Started - that was published last October. I really enjoyed reading it, and was especially moved by the interview.

I don't think I ever got the chance to meet Norman Pickering; if I did, I was too young to remember. You see, he was my grandmother Thelma Pickering Combs's brother. When I was a toddler, my parents moved to Europe, where I still live now. I don’t remember my great-uncle ever being around when we visited my grandparents every summer, and my family never really passed on stories about other family members and ancestors so to find out a little about my great-uncle’s life work, and to hear his voice; well, I can honestly tell you I am blown away, and I feel emotional about it. I would have loved to talk to my great-uncle; he sounds like a fascinating man, and I am genuinely interested in the things he would have had to tell me.

So I just wanted to thank you for taking the time - the gamble - to go out there and talk to him. I feel like you've connected me to a little piece of my family history.

Kind regards, and greetings from Germany

I know how she feels. They are many relatives I never met or will meet.
