I don't have an iplayer or "i" anything, but I don't think that is the only thing it will be on. It better not be, I want to see this!

It's audio only.
OldschoolE's picture

Oh, oops. That's ok, I want to listen then!:)

...BBC i-player is an online facility. However I am unsure if it is available outside of the UK (as us Brits pay for it via a licence fee). However lots of Americans seem to be able to listen to BBC services as many of the record request programmes or others with listener feedback often include messages from people in the USA.

Just Google "BBC Radio 4 listen live" and you should be able to hear the programme. Only downside is that you won't get their High Defintion sound (320kB AAC) I understand and you may be limited to a 128kB stream.

To hear her talk about the history of putting the stylus into the groove. Should make a for a titillating hour. ;-) (Sorry, I could not resist)

Seriously, it's cool to see analog playback getting back onto the radar.

She's perty!

So this would be 0630 Eastern, if I'm reading the BBC site correctly? This may be a good listen. Thanks!

Need to get out more! Colleen has a really great site devoted to music, where she curates "performances" of favorite albums with the creators (check the Joe Boyd interview) on mammoth portable sound systems. I wish they'd do a show here in Portland. I miss London for stuff like this...

for knowing that's a Rega P9 turntable in the photo with Ms. Murphy?

volvic's picture

Would love to have that P9

In a record collecting world dominated by males, the sight of a pretty face speaking with a British accent is enough to start a frenzy.

Come on guys, her recommendations are mundane at best and are not much better than what you read on steve hoffmann's forum.

Boooooooring.

or even Rolling Stones or Pitchfork.

She's American....

She's an ex-pat American and does not have a British accent. She's doing an amazing job sparking vinyl interest among young people. I've done a few of these events and they are really good...

Good grief!

Who I was replying to in this case.
(Couldn't get the damn button to work!)

A follow up with pics would be nice.

It's not about "recommendations" or any other small piece of it. Mundane or not doesn't matter. It's about the whole of the idea and show. To get a bit of history or story or info along with dropping needle..it just doesn't get much better than that.
I've had a quick peek at her site and will go back for an in depth look when I can, but come on folks...I think she is doing good work, in my opinion.

I admire her and would love to meet her. Wish I could have attended some of those Classic Album Sundays.

All coincidental....

Yes she does have a gorgeous "black ash" framed Rega P9... she didn't want to compete with my "cherry wood" framed Rega P9 :)
