Lalo Schifrin's "Bullit" Soundtrack Coming to Vinyl On Record Store Day

Aleph Records will release its first ever vinyl soundtrack on RSD 2014. The 200g BULLIT soundtrack will include both the album and movie version of the score cut from 96/24 masters. The film has one of the best car chases ever filmed and an exciting jazz track to match. Limited to 1000 copies.

I have it on DVD and really have overlooked the music, but I may watch again and hear what I've missed.

I have had the CD for many years -- bought it at Tower Records.  I would buy the record but RSD is too much of a hassle these days with the long lines and limited availability of titles. I hope the record stores do well but it seems that RSD is really eBayDay.  Maybe we will see a 96/24 digital download later.

Years ago I picked up an LP by Wilton Felder entitled 'Bullitt.'  It is on Liberty's World Pacific Jazz label and features a cool graphic of the famous chase scene as cover art.

The Bullitt Theme is the only song from the soundtrack.  There is no copyright date.

I feel like a dunce. Every year great records are talked about but I still haven't really learned how record store day works. I live in Vancouver, WA. Portland, OR is 5 minutes away. There must be a way for me to participate. I've read about releases from Sony on RSD. How do I join the fun?

This is one great sounding RSD release.

I was slightly disappointed by this release, because it's the 2000 re-recording, not the original 1968 film soundtrack, nor the 1968 Warner Bros. LP recordings (which were afflicted by Haeco-CSG system). The latter two are on the Film Score Monthly CD released in 2009. Still, though, a nice presentation, excellent sound, and the music certainly swings because it was supervised by Schifrin! (Maybe you can outline ways to reverse Haeco at some point).
