... if a 6 turned out to be 9
I don't mind, I don't mind,

Have pre-ordered my copy since April. The couple of tracks available to stream sounded wonderful. Hopefully, Michael’s verdict on sound quality will be appreciated as always. Stay safe people and enjoy your vinyl.

most of these are current hi-res digital recordings. the art blakey one is AAA i think

Within the last year I have ordered quite a few titles from the Blue Note site, I'd say something like 9-11 records, can't keep count these days ordering from all over the place. Yes, on some of these recordings in between tracks, you can hear the tape flutter - So What! The music and sonics are fantastic.

My only gripe is the prolonged service. I had the Miles Davis Birth of Cool back-ordered for four months and got it only after I sent an email. I very nearly forgot about it but double-checked my email and noticed it hadn't arrived yet. The moral is to keep track of your purchases because I am sure lots of us order from multiple places on regular intervals and that sadly Blue Note's service is a little spotty sometimes.

is operated by the UMG store service that powers ALL UMG-affiliated stores (individual artist stores, the UMe uDiscoverMusic thing, etc). UMG is notoriously awful at fulfilling direct-to-customer preorders, so you're better off preordering from acoustic sounds, music direct, amazon, elusive disc, etc or waiting for your local store to stock the titles. only order direct from UMG if it's a super special preorder thing (signed or made-to-order LPs/CDs/tapes), or if the item has already been widely released. a standard LP is best preordered elsewhere.

That is precisely what I have been doing since. cheers

some UMG stores are ever so slightly better than others, but i recently preordered a signed LP of the weeknd's latest record (very good btw) and a limited edition kid cudi single and i'm sure i'll likely be waiting well past the "14-16 weeks" on those.

If it will make you feel better some of the Analogphonic recordings have been backordered for at least 5 months. Either they discontinued and haven't notified anyone or they are in serious short supply.

unfortunately, 5 months has become nothing as far as a preorder/backorder wait goes. i don't get things on backorder in case they really do go OOP, but i've been waiting 7 MONTHS for those frank ocean singles that were supposed to ship in "8-12 weeks" so unfortunately i'm used to it :(

I haven't got 8-12 months. I buy mostly used these days....another crap shoot with less than honest sellers regarding condition. Still no complaints most things arrive on time and in stellar condition, it's those limited edition Blue Notes and Analogphonic recordings that keep me checking my email to see when they are coming.

True story, I ordered a Chord 2.2 metre tonearm cable for one of my tables because I have four and not all can be close to the preamp. It has been stuck at Chicago ISC since April 17 and still hasn't cleared customs. Apparently I am not the only one nowdays, very common. Next time FedEx.

it's nice to see new jazz issues as opposed to reissues. Can't keep selling the same record to the same people nine times and expect to get away with it. Eight times is the limit...
